Joshua Poyer was born in Sandusky, Ohio and graduated from the University of Akron, Ohio with a B.A. (Hons.) in 1999. He obtained his J.D. (Hons.) from the University of Miami School of Law in 2003, where he was a member of the University of Miami Law Review, which published his Note and Comment: United States v. Miggins: A Survey of Anticipatory Search Warrants and the Need for Uniformity Among the Circuits, 58 U. Miami L. Rev. 701 (2004). While in law school, Josh externed for the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, in Cleveland, Ohio and thereafter clerked at Aballí Milne Kalil, P.A. before accepting a position as an associate with the film on admission to The Florida Bar in 2003.
Josh is a member of the Firm’s litigation practice and focuses on complex commercial litigation matters in Florida’s State and federal courts. He has experience in a wide range of substantive areas, including RICO, jurisdictional disputes, foreign judgment domestication and collection, interpleader work, preliminary injunctions, and class actions. He is a member of The Florida Bar and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida (2005), the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit (2005), and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (2006). His representative cases include: Wachovia Bank, N.A. v. Tien, 534 F. Supp. 2d 1267 (S.D. Fla. 2007).
